The Scarlet Pimpernel's main character, Marguerite Blakeney, is driven whole-heartedly throughout the novel to save her brother Armand St. Just. She must sacrifice her moral integrity to ensure his safe return. Subsequently, many decisions that she makes in seeking her brother throughout the story shape her character and reinvent her identity.
